Launch of New Storage Flagship
transtec AG, the IT system manufacturer headquartered in Tuebingen, Germany, has launched a new line of storage-solutionsTuebingen, Germany, 20 April 2004.
With its 6200 SCSI Premium RAID system transtec has launched a high-availability storage solution with the performance required for I/O-intensive applications such as managing databases in medium-sized workgroup environments. Its advanced features, such as central administratability and integratability in Framework suites, make the 6200 SCSI Premium RAID it ideal for corporate use.
The numerous configuration options of the transtec 6200 SCSI Premium RAID system allow it to be adapted to a variety of applications. Its sixteen hot-swappable drives provide 2.3 TB of unformatted capacity, which may be doubled through the use of an expansion box. Up to four Ultra 160 SCSI host channels allow the system to be configured for either multi-host or cluster operation. All critical system components have a redundant design and can be replaced while the system is in operation.

Likewise new is the transtec 7500 SDLT600 Tape Drive. With the ability to store up to 260 GB per hour and a capacity of 600 GB per cartridge it sets new standards for midrange drives. The drives use SDLT T600 cartridges, which are based on innovative SDL Ttape II media. Since these cartridges are backward read-compatible with older SDLT220 and SDLT320 media and DLTtape VS1 cartridges used in DLT VS160 drives as well, smooth migration is guaranteed.
